The Summer ‘20 Release is going live to production orgs this week after being postponed due to COVID-19. Here are a few of our favorite release updates.
Release Topic | Notes |
Dynamic Forms (Non-GA Preview) | Users are often frustrated by the limitations of page layout options. Dynamic Forms add the ability to configure record detail fields and sections inside the Lightning App Builder.
Once fields and sections are inside their own Lightning components, you can move them wherever you like on the page. Components can be put behind new tabs to improve page load time. And, visibility rules can be configured to show and hide fields and sections. |
Run Flows That Bypass User Permissions | This update will please any declarative developer who has struggled with flow errors caused by user permissions. In the past, if the action that kicked off the flow was performed by a user who did not have the right permissions it would cause an error. Now, you can bypass user privileges within a flow.
In a past release, flows were updated to ignore object- and field-level security, but they still respected org-wide defaults. With the new update, system context allows users to perform any action, regardless of permission types, within the flow. |
Optimizer App | The Optimizer document is a system-generated PDF, which provides an overview of the system user. In Summer ‘20, meet the Optimizer App, the interactive way to review and act on expert recommendations for maintaining your Salesforce org’s implementation.
Once the app is enabled, run it, and the app will begin a system inspection – identifying issues that require immediate attention in a sortable list view. Instead of scrolling through a PDF, the app provides a sortable list from which you can take action! |
Kanban View Improvements | You can already leverage a Kanban view of any object that uses a stage/status field. In Summer ‘20, you can also use Path within Kanban. Path allows you to highlight key fields and include guidance for a specific process.
This powerful new feature brings your Path tips and guidance directly into the Kanban views. This makes it easier for users to visualize their process through Kanban, as well as understand the process better through Path. |
Guest User Profiles | This update may impact any Salesforce environments that leverage Guest Users. Guest users are non-authenticated users, which means they can access and update parts of your system without having to log in.
With this update, guest user profiles will have new layers of permissions to make your system more secure. Review the updates and guidance on how to use these settings if you think this change might impact your environment. |
Show Extended Records with the Related Record Component | With this update, users will be able to look up a field value on the related record associated with another record. Previous functionality only allowed for one level of record relationships. |
